What makes Duke Plant & Design different from other online plant shops?

We provide premium plants and soils paired with education and pots that make it easy for plants to thrive.  We focus on setting customers up with success by providing plant knowledge so they can maintain plants on their own with new understanding. We are a local business and do our own deliveries so your plant is never packaged up or moved around in boxes which helps the plants arrive in better condition. 

We offer viewings by appointment and personalized services  including online consultation and video calls which helps us focus on each customer's needs and helps them make sure they are making the right  choice for their light levels and schedules. 

Will I get the exact plant in photo on website?

Most photos on website are a representation of that plant in that size range and style. Plants vary and change so I am not able to give an exact representation but I try my best, please reach out if you have concerns. dukeplantndesign@gmail.com

How will I know how to take care of my plant?

We include care instructions with each plant and make it really easy to understand what your plant needs in terms of light, water, humidity, etc. If you ever have any questions you can email me at dukeplantndesign@gmail.com

What are you getting when you buy a plant from Duke Plant & Design?

When you purchase a plant from Duke Plant & Design, here's what's included:

  • Hand-selected greenery from a local farm is chosen for quality, beauty, and size. Then the plant that's trimmed, cleaned, styled, and repotted using high quality soil media mix with good drainage and put into a self watering pot that is chosen for good aeration and design. These planters are easy to move around, protect floors from getting damaged, have good drainage for optimal airflow and make sure you don’t  over-water.  

  • With certain planters, optional wood stands are available crafted with either stained pine wood or natural bamboo. Our stands also include felt pads to protect your floors.

Can I place a special order on a plant?

Depending on plant size, availability, and timing, special delivery arrangements may be available for a rush fee.

If you’re on a tight timeline or need a specific delivery window, please reach out — we’re happy to see what we can work out together.

As a small San Francisco business, we do our best to accommodate special requests whenever possible.

We love doing special orders and helping you choose plants that will truly thrive in your space.

If you’re looking for something specific and we don’t currently have it in stock, we’re happy to check availability with our nursery partners. If it’s available, we can source it for you and pair it with the pots you love — so your space feels intentional, cohesive, and designed just the way you envision it.

You’ll receive guidance, knowledge, and care tips tailored to your light, layout, and lifestyle, so your plants thrive in your home just like they do in ours.

Do you deliver?

We need at least one week in advance of your desired delivery date.

If we need to restock an item, we will notify you within 2 days of your order with an updated delivery timeframe.

Here’s how delivery and pickup work:

San Francisco Delivery
• Free delivery on orders over $200 (during scheduled delivery windows) *this is for plants 5’4” and under
• Scheduled delivery times:
 – Wednesday between 2–5 PM
 – Thursday between 5–7 PM

Local Pickup (San Francisco)
• Tuesday evening: 5–7 PM
• Saturday morning: 8–11 AM

Bay Area Delivery
We’re happy to deliver throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area for an additional fee. If you prefer, we can also help coordinate a pickup time here in San Francisco.

Because we’re a small business, we keep deliveries scheduled and intentional — it helps us keep our plants healthy, our service personal, and our prices fair.

What is your sales policy?

We are committed to offering only plants in the best possible condition. Every plant is carefully selected, inspected, and prepared before it leaves our care, and we make every effort to deliver your plant in excellent condition.

Because plants are living, perishable items and care conditions vary from home to home, all plant sales are final.

That said, your success matters deeply to us.

If you have any concerns about your plant after delivery, please reach out right away. Often, we can troubleshoot together and determine what your plant needs to get back on track. It’s completely normal for plants to go through a short adjustment period when settling into a new environment.
